Re: MTX & Tatung Einstein Speculator source code release

Another thing someone could try is to use the Sinclair ROM code. I couldn't do this because it was not public-domain at the time. Instead I put the Speculator-specific code between various ROM entry points that I supported, as the source code will show you. I think the Sinclair cassette loading rout...

Re: MTX & Tatung Einstein Speculator source code release

The first thing someone could try is assembling & linking the MTX version. See SPEC1.TXT for linking order. Note that the M prefix is omitted from actual source files in zip file. Original files were named MSPx.MAC but I changed to SPx.MAC for the Einstein. The SPL80.SUB shown below is not 100% ...

Re: MTX & Tatung Einstein Speculator source code

Hello Dave, high time the Speculator source code was in the public domain. It is copyright (c) Tony Brewer but anyone can do anything with it.

MTX & Tatung Einstein Speculator source code release

MTX version: mtxspec.zip Tatung Einstein version: einspec.zip Original MTX source files have been lost. Luckily I still have Einstein source on 3" diskettes which allowed me (10 years ago) to regenerate the MTX source after disassembling the MTX object code. I used Microsoft M80 and L80 to asse...

Re: Questions about the Memotech MTX that you were too afraid to ask...

I joined the Tatung forum but I've been waiting a couple of days to be approved so I can't login. I might have some Einstein Speculator boards. Perhaps you could mention both points on the forum for me? Thanks. Sure. They will be thrilled Tony! Edit: all done. Many thanks. Still can't login, sadly....

Re: Questions about the Memotech MTX that you were too afraid to ask...

I know for a fact there is interest in the (potentially) even smaller community of Einstein users, because they wrote about it recently in their forums. Apparently, the Einstein version of Speculator goes for several hundred pounds on Ebay these days. https://www.robheaton.co.uk/tatung/viewtopic.ph...

Re: Questions about the Memotech MTX that you were too afraid to ask...

I'm thinking about creating RESpectipede , a version of the Speculator software that runs Spectipede on REMEMOrizer r3 with no menu and no cassette loading if there is any interest . Would give people with this hardware a taste of the Speculator. No promises about when it might be ready. Video of Sp...

Re: Questions about the Memotech MTX that you were too afraid to ask...

I asked whether Speculator has been tested with Rememorizer because Andy says: The original Speculator hardware partially address decodes ports x11xxxxx and xxx11111 binary, and the original Speculator code tests all these port ranges. We therefore require modified Speculator code which doesn't test...

Re: Questions about the Memotech MTX that you were too afraid to ask...

What is the situation with the Rememorizer and Speculator? Never been tried because software needs changing? Others are welcome to chime in. Hi Tony Not sure what you meant by this? Andy does have a version of Speculator running in REMEMOrizer V3. Thanks for the info, Dave. So you've seen the Specu...
