Re: Eye-watering ebay prices
Anybody seen this (admittedly nice) crazy buy-it-now auction on ebay? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ULTRA-RARE-VINTAGE-MEMOTECH-MTX-512-COMPUTER-SYSTEM-MINT-/294120814264?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 Crazy, opportunistic or worth it? Personally, I think it's at the top end in terms of total package,...

Re: Another dead Memotech - Can it be saved ?
I did a bit more testing, it seems like the Z80 and the VDP was dead, i checked the parts in another memotech. But the CTC. The VDP got very hot very fast, so I guess it was shorted. The pal board kind of work but gives gray scale picture, sometimes i get colors, but weird bars and sometimes some re...

Re: Replacing a 4116 VRAM with a more reliable 4164 - Courtesy o
Hi. This trick also works for the 41256, but it seems like the 41128 chip have another layout. I have just done the same with a Texas and NEC branded 41256 today. The 41256 and 4164 should also run a bit cooler, since it use 5+ only. Hi Folks, as we know, the most common video problem with the MTX i...

Another dead Memotech - Can it be saved ?
Yes another dead Memotech, not sure whats the story about this. Not sure if this board will be saved or for parts only, for sure some traces have to be fixed, and even that maybe there is a serious shortcut somewhere at the board causing this burned pcb. burnmtx1.jpg burnmtx2.jpg burnmtx3.jpg burnmt...

Take care when remove ics (Saved a VDP)
Hi. Just want to remind, take care when you remove socked chips from the MTX mainboard, those chips may not have been out for many years, and kind of stuck there. Today I ran into a problem, and I wanted to swap the VDP, suddenly I discovered on of the pin was broken, it was left in the Socket. When...

Use of Assembler in MTX Basic.
Hi there. I think it have been mentioned before, but when using Assembler in Basic, and you add or remove basic lines before the Assembler routines, it seems like the Basic dont "re-assemble". What is the best way to do this. To get it work yesterday I had to go into each of my assembly lines and do...
