Re: New tape cleaner tool

I think that I need to update my page about Bill’s Tape Cleaner on the website. When I do that, it might help Windows users to host a pre-compiled exetuable? If Paul wants to share his, I will post it to the site. Not being a Linux user, I’d guess that a single Linux executable might be less useful ...

Re: Hello

Hi Paul,

Welcome to the Forum!

It’s always nice to hear from folks who contributed to the MTX back in the day.

You will find a load of Memotech info on my website here :

Re: help

Hi, welcome to the forum.

If you are going to post a load of apparently random links, please provide some context (and make sure that all the links actually work).

What “help” are you looking for?
What are you trying to achieve?
Of what relevance is it to Memotech?

Re: Please Introduce yourself...

Hi Steve, Of course, for the really authentic experience, you should really get that MTX out - the PSU is unlikely to be faulty. Failing that, just install a copy of Andy’s great MTX emulator http://www.nyangau.org/memu/memu.htm It includes a copy of Fathoms Deep and You could also use the MTX assem...

Re: Pedro Torres from Portugal

Hi Pedro,

Welcome to the forum.

I hope that you find a power supply for your MTX, but they are very difficult to find.

Mark Kinsey has designed a replacement that you may be able to build yourself

Re: Please Introduce yourself...

Hi Steve, Welcome to the forum! I’ve not played Fathoms Deep much myself, but it gets a nice writeup on Jim’s site and I have it on my Memotech downloads page [url][http://www.primrosebank.net/computers/mtx/mtxsoftware_dl.htm/url] from where you can see the link to Jim’s page. Cee5 is there too. Do ...

Re: Another Home-Brew - Z180

Hi Bill,

As you need to redo the board design anyway, have you tried letting the fitter freely allocate the pins? I think that will result in the most efficient logic solution.

The EPM7064 could be used too

Re: Another Home-Brew - Z180

Of course, there is a more expensive, but usually reliable option . . . . Get it made in China :D If you are confident of the design, or at least, confident that minimal rework (using the Memotech patch wire technique :)) might be required, then you could just go for it? Advantages Not having to use...

Re: Bootstrap and boot blocks

Alan,

another query . . .

you can issue a shutdown command from the second (40 column) console, but "Halted" is only reported to the 80 column screen - is that by design or a "feature"?

Re: Bootstrap and boot blocks

Alan,

on stty, based on the stty -a output, I'm guessing that <ctrl><q> and <ctrl><s> are meant to start/stop screen scrolling?

On the MTX implementation, they change the foreground colour attribute
