Re: Rolling picture...sometimes

Hi Mark, the most obvious cause might be a missing ground strap between the back panel and the regulator ground. Have a look at page 48 of the Service Manual available here http://primrosebank.net/computers/mtx/mtxmanuals.htm Also note the 47pF capacitor on the back panel You could rule out most of ...

Guardian article ranking home computers

“The 20 greatest home computers – ranked!” The Memotech doesn’t even rate a mention in the top 20. (Of course, it is from The Guardian!) https://www.theguardian.com/games/2020/sep/07/the-20-greatest-home-computers-ranked Geoff Boyd has penned a critical response though . . . . . https://discussion.t...

Re: Memotech Network File Transfer

Hi Martin, That sounds like the same error you saw at Memofest 2018. From Andy’s Memofest 2018 page . . . . “Martin reported seeing an "out of memory error", under load, although there is no memory allocation in the code. The network code has a "net_send_chunk: no free space" assertion message which...

Re: Memotech Network File Transfer

Hi Bill, thanks a lot - some progress, but not quite sorted. . . It is reading the config file now as the MTX doesn't respond to the default anymore. I just have a single entry in the file for the IP address but it is not being configured update: I have tried adding all of the parameters and creatin...

Re: Memotech Network File Transfer

Hi Bill, thanks a lot ! the directory listing is returned (in html format) :D I could not see the syntax for the config file, so I tried to look in the sourse and failed miserably, can you tell me the format for the network entries in the config file please? (I could not find any reference to it in ...

Re: Memotech Network File Transfer

Hi Bill, Yes, as you’ll know, Andy’s NFX code is multi-threaded. Four I think, used for chargen, echo and two for http. The first two are good for testing, but could perhaps be replaced by others (e.g. ftp). As you say, the big missing is the ability to get a file list from the MTX, so if that alone...

Re: Memotech Network File Transfer

Mark, Your last paragraph restates the reason for my original post. I should also perhaps expand on my “requirements” . . . As well as the ability to transfer files to/from the MTX, the software should be based on TCP/IP, more than likely building on Andy’s work. As I said earlier, Andy has done a l...
