Re: Best dust cover
I don’t know about now, but some years ago there was a guy that would make custom sized dust covers. Some on the World of Spectrum forums asked for dust covers for the ZX Spectrum +3. I jumped on the same bandwagon ;) If you search the U.K. eBay site for “dust cover zx spectrum” you will find simila...

Re: Question #2: EXEROM and tape loading
I think your comments are a bit harsh. The ZX80 and ZX81 did not have any ability to load code or data files. You could only load them from BASIC as part of a normal program LOAD. We now know of three different official ROM versions, the first one having a bad mathematical bug. The second version al...

Re: Hello from Chesterfield
Re - IDE cables: You want the older type that uses standard 40 way IDC connectors with 40 way ribbon cable, often described as PATA IDE or ATA/ATAPI not the later 80 way ribbon cable type with specialist IDC connectors for the faster HDDs. IDC means insulation displacement connector. You also don’t ...

Re: Question #2: EXEROM and tape loading
The other problem, is that fitting a modern EPROM / EEPROM or flash ROM to a MTX board, requires wiring changes to the board. Which is further complicated by there being two different main boards in widespread use. One of which uses three ROM chips, and one of which uses only two ROM chips, So not s...

Is there a manufacturers logo on it? Or a date code?

Re: Another Home-Brew - Z180
There is another option for a keyboard. "Mechanical" keyboards are all all the reage in some gaming quarters. I have one of the 3/4 size versions connected to the 2nd PC to save desk space, and it does have individual keys and not a membrane. I've been told I'm crazy butchering a band new keyboard....

Re: VDP output monochrome and strobing
If you have a suitable vice, you can buy IDC connectors cheaply and you can buy the IDC type ribbon cable also at reasonable prices. Or if you are very lucky, you may find a CD-ROM cable for sale...
