Re: Possibly hundreds (?) of new games for the MTX

Real MTX tests: The 62 column display on the CFX causes display issues, which is hardly unexpected, it's scrolling far more than the interpreter expects. It's not unplayable though. AMVF on CFX.jpg The ROTT board I build last year is basically a CFX with a full memory map, so I was able to test the ...

Re: Possibly hundreds (?) of new games for the MTX

The 191230 version fixes the issues with AMFV, it's now accepting commands. amfv new version.jpg Since the datafile for AMFV is "only" 256k, I set the MTXplus to it's maximum for CPM of 448k and was able to run the virtual memory version. It seems to have trouble with commas as it's printing 8e inst...

Re: Possibly hundreds (?) of new games for the MTX

I finally had a chance to try this, on the MTX plus, where I had the CPU running at 10.67mhz to ease some of the response issues Sometime back in the early 90s I brought Lost Treasures of Infocom volume 2, so I ran some tests using the original data files. Loading AMFV looked promising AMFV loading ...

Re: Another Home-Brew - Z180

If you want the "I made that" satisfaction, there's always the matrix board route. With the components on one side and wires on the other, it looks quite neat too. I use Kynar wire for hook-up, since it's simple to just melt the insulation when doing a multi point path like the data bus. Because it'...

Re: Another Home-Brew - Z180

Have you though about hooking up the Propeller 80 column display you designed for CFX-II as one of the I/O devices? That gives a proven design using minimal external resources. Especially if you only use 80 column mode. That should make getting a diagnostic output up pretty straightforward. It's fas...

Re: Possibly hundreds (?) of new games for the MTX

Do I want them, yes. Is it sensible, probably no, but then is doing anything new on retro computers sensible ? Probably not, but that hasn't stopped either of us in the past. The key seems to be whether there is sufficient wiggle room to improve the performance. For the widest possible audience, the...

Re: Another Home-Brew - Z180

The EPM7064 might be obsolete, but the PLCC44 version of the ATF1504 is still in production. So you could compile for the EPM7064, and run the output through POF2JED for programming the microchip part. (Quartus II being lightyears ahead of WinCUPL in the free development software world!) The downsid...

Re: Another Home-Brew - Z180

Is it worth feeding 0v to the 2 no connects on the rom socket, just in case you need to fit a larger Flash in there for any reason.

Or jumper them for either voltage to allow for multiple rom images ??
