Re: Computer Chips from yesteryear
Yes, yes, yes, no!!! RAM :? That is the thing. Lots of fast RAM was expensive. Add to that the costly video chips... To enable easy, fast access, video RAM that was in part of the CPU's memory map was preferred. But that caused problems. Now a CPU was not something that could be left out, an...

Re: MTX+ Running BASIC
I've just looked at the pictures again (last time, I was on a mobile ithingy device). Now I'm sure that Master is calling the shots  Mark The Master that has been cleverly modified to run with the power off.... A short spay of WD40 may help to sort that outMartin A wrote:Printer output tested and running to spec.
Shame about the output, that was a previously un-opened ribbon, I guess 25 years in storage has taken it's toll on the ink, sealed or not.

Re: When and How did you rediscover Memotech ?
Did you choose a MTX for any particular reason? Was this, did this change once the first exciting play time with the machine end? That is, after a few weeks were you using it for the same thing that it was obtained for? Or did the "educational" very quickly become "games machine"...

Re: When and How did you rediscover Memotech ?
Did anyone play with / use / get Memotech ZX81 expansions before they got a MTX?
Did this help in the choice of getting a MTX?

Re: Another repair case, plase help if you can
When they fail, zener diodes normally go short circuit. What do you have on either side of resistor R60 (1k ohm) {don't get confused with R62, the board markings are not very helpful}. Or you can test on D16 or D18 anode leads. If the voltage on D16 or D18 anode leads is heathy (about -12V) and R60 ...
