Re: When and How did you rediscover Memotech ?

I was a school kid living in Witney when they started building their Factory in Station Lane. I went there with my Quasar game for ZX Spectrum hoping to write games for their new computer. Got a short job working in the (very dusty) portacabins using an SM1 to code games for the MTX, before the MTX ...

Re: Status update on my old development disks

MEMU isn't good at sound programs that very rapidly reprogram the sound chip, like the Speech capture and playback program that I think Tony Brewer worked on, the Toado fly noise, and the Lemmings "Lets go" sample. Yes, I'd say a word progressor App like this is a worthy addion to the libr...

Re: Scans of CPM disks

I my Disk Images download includes type 03 and 07 images of bootable CP/M disks, both 54K and 59K systems, which should work if written to 5.25" or 3.5" media.

None of these are the official CP/M disks distributed with FDX or SDX systems, but they should be good enough for most purposes.

Re: Another repair case, plase help if you can

More likely duff DRAM than duff Z80. Changing and/or socketing the chips probably didn't help, and may have made it worse. I know of 3 attempts to change DRAM that didn't work afterwards, even though visual and electrical inspection showed nothing wrong. I'd try removing them and using external RAM ...

Re: FREE Electronic Components - Again !!

Er, what Martin A and 1024mak said, too. Lez certainly help me stock my electronics box with tools and components. And keeping in this spirit, this helped me offer the earliest REMEMOrizers slightly cheaper, and I've also passed on some things to other retro enthusiasts. I've also got some things to...

Re: "new" games as COM files.

I think the SDX User Manual probably has an example USER command to save a block of memory. Probably showing an example of how to make a .RUN file. I have a script somewhere that prepends a BASIC loader in front of a .COM file to produce a .mtx file you can LOAD "". If you look at Z.mtx, y...

Or perhaps more interestingly, a new enthusiast?

Re: MTX Paged Roms

Alas INOUT (=0AAEH) reprograms the CTC so as to interrupt whenever an edge occurs on the cassette interface.
I suspect the ISR simply sets the carry flag.

Cool idea though.

Re: MTX Paged Roms

I think that fitting it all in was a bigger concern than minimizing paging. The 127 page switches per sec when idling is consistent with one of the interrupt service routines being called 64 times a second, which switches to ROM page 1, runs a small piece of code (which often does very little), then...
