Re: Would you like to build your own homebrew Dragon 32/64

For anyone wanting a 6x09 system, without the complications of a full Dragon build - video output, keyboard etc. There always Grant Searle's simple system which has a 6809 variant. http://searle.hostei.com/grant/6809/Simple6809.html Although with the HD6309EP that Lez sent me, you'd need some additi...

Re: what did they smoke when they develop MTX Basic?

By default, simple variables get parked in the shared ram from #C000 up. There's only a 2 byte pointer I guess they then get moved further up if a basic program needs that space. Arrays on the other hand have a 3 byte pointer and live in paged ram, with I think a maximum size of 64k per array, as th...

Re: NTSC/PAL VDP setup?

Bit 0, of register 0, is the external video enable. I would have thought that was meaningless on a 9928A or 9929A ??? as the composite video input pin was removed to allow for the colour difference signals.

Re: NTSC/PAL VDP setup?

Text mode on the 9918(A)/28A/29A shouldn't cause any issues on either clock rate, as the minimum separation between VDP accesses is 2us. That's 8 cycles at both 3.58 and 4 mhz Graphics modes however the data sheet says 8us is required, so a 3.58mhz CPU has to leave 29 cycles. The 4mhz CPU has to lea...

Re: Stack pointer on entry to m/c programs

That looks like 8080 derived code.

The Z80 has both LD (nn),SP and LD SP,(nn) to save and load the stack pointer to memory without involving HL.

TURBO High scores Can you beat 3200 ??

Jim won the Turbo high score competition at Memofest 2018 with a score of 3200. Can YOU beat that ? Here the result of extensive practice (ie more than 5 mins), is my best score in a LONG time, (mainly because, like everyone attending Memofest, before this weekend I'd not played it in a long time!) ...
