Re: Another MTX Fault - Jon Riglar's MTX
Hi Mark The board appears to have 3 ROMs in sockets. It has 4000-06 printed topside. There are no link wires soldered on the underside. I've checked the main voltages and they are present. I have a multimeter, soldering kit, even one of those usb powered small digital storage scopes, but that only s...

Re: New member saying hello
Hi Dave I'll take you up on the memory offer; my email is jonriglar@outlook.com if you want to send me a Paypal invoice direct? Thanks Jon Ooops - the "aha moment" is all mine :-) I have 4116 and 4164 for sale, I confused which ones you had bought. The 4116 are good for the VRAM The 4164 a...

Re: New member saying hello
No that's an interesting question!
I bought 4116 chips - which is what was/is fitted as VRAM on my board (x8).
Is there a 'aha' moment coming? (Something fundamental I've got wrong!?)

Re: New member saying hello
Hi Dave
Happy with a soldering iron, so would be ok swapping out old for new chips - and into sockets.
Do you stock suitable chips?
Thanks
Jon
PS I realise this probably shouldn't be in the Introductions thread!

Re: New member saying hello
Hi Dave
I haven't changed the main RAM. It's definitely a 64K set up. Following your advice I've checked continuity on the main RAM chips and all is fine.
I've only changed the VRAM chips.
Regards
Jon

Re: New member saying hello
Serial Numbers is 512/25525
I seem to have suddenly found a constant 'tone', but pressing CTRL + G makes no difference; probably because the tone is already constant?!

Re: New member saying hello
Hi Dave A quick look at the webpage link and my advert/machine isn't listed there. I'll dig out more info (serial number, etc.) later. I didn't pay too much for the machine, and was aware there was likely to be some TLC required. I understood it was listed as 'for spares', so no complaint there. My ...

Re: New member saying hello
Hi Dave I'll get the serial number later and post it. The unit is in excellent cosmetic order but it was obvious once open that it had some 'history' that was different from that described in the advert on EBAY. Several of the VRAM chips had been replaced and all were running uncomfortably hot. I've...

New member saying hello
Hi all, Quick introduction as I signed up today. I'm a collector of most 8 bit machines, and even some early 16 bit. Recently added a pristine MTX 512 to my collection only to find it doesn't work! The wonderful experience of Ebay - never mind, interesting project now to repair. The MTX is a compute...
