Re: MFX - Installation, Usage, Issues, Questions, Problems
As I mentioned earlier, a GAL fault is unlikely to have been the root cause of your problems. The GAL is only doing the memory decoding, it has no impact on the serial number displayed, that is done in the FPGA. Yep that's what hit me about 3 minutes after successfully writing to the GAL. The most ...

Re: MFX - Installation, Usage, Issues, Questions, Problems
OK so whilst waiting for the new GAL to arrive I may have purchased a T48 programmer (Supposed to be a TL866 successor or something like that). The advantage being that I now don't need to get out my old XP laptop and the software seems easier to understand. So before the new programmer arrived I ha...

Re: MFX - Installation, Usage, Issues, Questions, Problems
Thanks Dave, So some user error. Unfortunately even with the encryption turned off it still fails on verify. I've got some more chips coming so it'll need to wait now until they arrive. I'll let you know how I get on. Edit: Although Encrypt (which was after verify in the programming sequence) has be...

Re: MFX - Installation, Usage, Issues, Questions, Problems
So my MFX machine started misbehaving. At first it would occasionally display an incorrect serial number, this moved on to memory size being incorrect and the frequency increased. Now it will not find a drive and will reset with full screen colours displayed. So I thought (as I normally incorrectly ...

Re: Football Manager
Interesting and that explains a lot. I have just tried on my MFX fitted 512 (yep full 64K on board unlike the CFXII one which only has 32K on the MB). I had a try in menu first as per Andy's recommendation from his page. I got it to load the game properly on the second go which filled me with some h...

Re: Football Manager
OK it seems I must be doing something wrong trying to load it on my CFXII machine or my MFX machine as I just get a blue screen? I've just tried it in memu and it works fine.

By any chance does anyone have a working copy or the holy grail of an original copy for sale?

Re: Strange behaviour
So I had a bit more of a play trying adjustments to the volume and even replacing the CTC chip as I have a spare and the Z80 with a third one. The only change I could get was where it would reset or come up with the pink screen with the PC being 9101 and FF. I also could not get Kilopede to load but...

Re: Strange behaviour
Hmm, OK so I'd already cleaned the contacts on the edge connector and for whatever reason didn't think to try another tape (possibly because it was midnight). Tried several other tapes with the CFX unplugged and they work fine. Not good news for my PotHole Pete tape :( Plugged the CFXII back in and ...

Re: Strange behaviour
Nope somethings still not right. It'll work fine for a bit then start randomly resetting. Sometimes to a pink screen, sometimes it finds the boot drive, sometimes it's just scrambled. I've reseated the PAL chip as tapping it would sometimes make it happen (might have just been a coincidence however ...
