Re: Football Manager

So, I'm assuming it's because the game loads into the contiguous 32k starting at 8000h and basic/SDX disk routines shrink that 32k to 21k, thus 28k "doesn't fit" in a 64k machine? Pretty much spot on. From my quick look at the MTX, Football manager's 2 game sections load from #8100 to #EF...

Re: Football Manager

USER MTX can deal with some single stage .MTX files. Anything that more than 1 block of data fails. That's becasue memu can patch the "rom" where the first stage loader make the call to load the next block from tape. On real hardware you can't patch rom, so after the first stage takes over...

Re: Strange behaviour

The edge detection circut on the MTS is based on the 741 op amp. See page 226 of the Phoenix manual. The final stage is a CMOS exclusuve or gate to set the level for the CTC, the rest is analogue and I don't have a clue how it works. I would hope that it was designed to be tolerant of component diff...

Re: Strange behaviour

I had a quick look at the Pothole Pete code. The program counter in that panel screenshot is at #8141, when it encouneted a #FF byte that triggered Panel. That's in the middle of some sprite tables, the CPU should never have been running code at that point. If the tape had loaded correctly the byte ...

I'll look for some 8x10 bitmap fonts.
I did wonder about the BBC master font, with some hand edits for descenders etc. to make use of the extra rows. But that too has "useful" letters in the 128-143 area.

Re: Only a week until the Retro-Comptuer Festival. Eek!

That does look good, though like Dave, I may be a little based. I tried an inexpensive AV2HDMI upscaler, and while yes it does mean I can use the HDMI input on the TV. However, the imige isn't that great. All the time I have a TV with scart, I'll stick with the passive AV to scart adapter that came ...

Re: Memofest 2023, Where and When?

Technically there's enough memory though for text 2 and graphic modes 3, 4 and 5. MFX already has 80 column text support in basic using the VGA display, so there's not a great deal to be gained by adding text 2. Mode 3 is currently half implemented, because of the expanded sprites. It's a question t...

Re: Memofest 2023, Where and When?

Modern storage options that he could try are an MFX , although that would require removing the FDX / RS232 interface. Alternately a CFX or CFX-II could be fitted externally. We did briefly demo my CFX-II fitted to Dave's MTX. There's always the gotek route to bypass the lack of physical disc media ...

Re: Memofest 2023, Where and When?

I showed of a few examples of Memotech themed 3D printing The first was the case I've printed for the Altera DE1 based ReMemotech. DE1 Case.jpg Then some very blingy replacement MTX end plates, which acording to Dave "looks good when I have my eyes closed!" Gold Standard.jpg We also ran a ...
