Re: Memofest 2023, Where and When?

At the moment Saturday 28th is looking like the front-runner. Does not give me very long to work out what to demo and to sort out the all important cake. Does the lack of responses mean that you all have nothing else to do all autumn? Or does it show a lack of interest :( Hi Bill, I'm definitely in...

Re: Memofest 2023, Where and When?

Since nobody else has jumped up with a better offer, I guess that I am it :) I am less than 50 miles North-East of London, and a 10 minute taxi ride from the nearest mainline station. I can offer one of the following dates: Saturday 28th October. Sunday 29th October, Saturday 11th November. Sunday 1...

Re: Memofest 2023, Where and When?

I could possibly host a one-day event second half of October or sometime in November. My biggest reservation is that I don't actually have much Memotech kit: an MTX 512, 3.5" SDX, DMX, and a few Rarpberry Pi's running MEMU. Or as another alternative, we could all join Stephen Usher at the Centr...

Re: Sound Engine & Midi Music player for the MTX

Use the CTC in Timer mode, not Counter mode. It then uses the 4MHz system clock. A divide by 16 pre-scaler and a count of 8 will give a 31.25khz output. The DART will have to be operated in x1 clock mode. To operate the DART in x16 clock mode would require a 4MHz/8 data clock, which the CTC cannot do.

Re: Sound Engine & Midi Music player for the MTX

Can't the Z80 DART on the serial board be persuaded to talk MIDI? If so then the Memotech could act as a MIDI instrument and record the data coming in. I believe that the usual voltages for MIDI are incompatible with RS232, so at least some level converters would be needed. However this is probably...

Re: Sound Engine and Music player for the MTX

I have found information on the DelfiMask file format: https://www.deflemask.com/forum/general/dmf-specs/ One issue with Envosound is that, while it can produce complex 'Notes', which are good for individual events like a collision or explosion, it does not have any way of sequencing multiple 'Notes...

Re: Sound Engine and Music player for the MTX

i found a thread here that is similar to what might be needed for the MTX to play files from Deflamask. its just general but is on the same subject. https://www.deflemask.com/forum/general/is-there-a-method-of-using-deflemask-s-hes-files-in-homebrewindie-games/ This seems to be related: https://www...

Re: Sound Engine and Music player for the MTX

The DefleMask is not very illuminating, No detail of any of the file format. Also, to me it is not clear how you compose a tune, but then I am no musician. Presumably you know how to do that? It does apparently support the SN76489 sound chip for a couple of systems. The "SEGA Master System"...
