Re: Strange behaviour
RGB board relocated to the underside of the board. I had mounted pins onto it could be mounted in between the socket and the video chip but found there it was very slightly too high and pressed against the keyboard. And for a first time piggy backing the ram chips actually got me to the faulty one. ...

Re: Strange behaviour
 Yep. I thought surely not as it wasn't doing that before... was it? No I was definitely using it fine... I think? Keyboard connector was loose and sitting 2 pins over. Not sure how that happened. I haven't powered it up to test yet. I'll save that for another day as bow that I've opened the c...

Strange behaviour
Well I fired up my original MTX512 (MTX500 MB with CFXII) yesterday and got the following strange behaviour. On Boot I got the CFX II boot screen (Even if I hold down a key to go to CPM or MTX mode). After several attempts I got into CPM which booted fine but if I tried to type in DIR I ether get no...

Re: Second hand shops
Thanks, I'm from New Zealand and our second hand stores started disappearing after the government brought in laws around the sale of second hand goods which made it difficult to transact. We occasionally get car boot sales but they are very rare maybe 1-2 years apart. TradeMe (our local version of e...

Second hand shops
Hi
I'm going to be in Edinburgh and then London for a few days can anyone recommend any locations for second hand shops which could be interesting?
Doesn't have to be MTX or even Computer related as the missus would also like to look through some while we are there?
Thanks in advance
Mike

Re: My second MTX
Electrolytic Capacitors and Regulators fully replaced now. Reassembled the case for now but I have a sacrificial Electron keyboard coming as some keys still play up. IMG_0870.jpeg I still need to remove the broken screw but have put the unit back together with 5 new ones. IMG_0871.jpeg On testing th...

Re: My second MTX
Something arrived on the doorstep today :o IMG_0865.jpeg I had to do a quick test to satisfy my curiosity of course... The board is requiring one more cap replaced where I got the wrong value. Keyboard quick test shows the space bar works better but not 100%. And I still get some multiple results fr...

Re: My second MTX
Swap the space key with the line feed key if it works, that one's almost redundant! Thanks I wouldn't have actually considered that. I did make some progress on the keyboard today. I desoldered the Space Bar mech and pulled it apart as per Daves instructions and reassembled it as everything seemed ...

Re: My second MTX
So it seems I just can't leave it alone until the parts arrive. I thought I'd just do a quick check on the 4116 chips to see if any got really hot (Never found this to work ever for me). Low and behold Murphys Law is working overtime and as I had already ordered some 4116's from a local suppl...

Re: My second MTX
Sorry force of habit making the pictures small. I have replaced them with larger ones. With a decent resolution picure it's sometimes possible to work out what ram chip to suspect.
Just need to find some 4116 chips now.
