Hello from Chesterfield

Section where new members can tell us a little bit about themselves (and their own set-up) and existing members can say "hello and welcome" to them?

I've just last week done the same thing, I used an old Xbox (first one) IDE cable which worked. It was too long so I bought a raspberry pi GPIO ribbon cable and it's a little bit longer than the original cable and works fine.

I have ordered a set of DuPonts but think I have one of those lying around somewhere. Will give that a go thanks.

Re - IDE cables:
You want the older type that uses standard 40 way IDC connectors with 40 way ribbon cable, often described as PATA IDE or ATA/ATAPI not the later 80 way ribbon cable type with specialist IDC connectors for the faster HDDs.

IDC means insulation displacement connector.

You also don’t really want the type where pin 20 has a blanking or key instead of a contact.

These are sometimes sold as CD ROM cables.

Alternatively, if you have a vice, you can buy the IDC connectors separately, and you can buy the ribbon cable. Then you can make up your own cable. Or there are a small number of sellers that can make one up for you at obviously a higher cost.

I just found an old 40 pin cable, which seems to be working fine and adding a nice splash of colour:

Looks good. Cable is a decent length and there's not reams of it spilling out when you take the side panels off.

Actually, just noticed you have a 3d printed case for your rememorizer, very nice.
