I just realised, I only put the pictures of the CFX on Facebook, and not here:

The boot screen is still work in progress:

The CPM implementation needs a little work, even on the widescreen TV the first column is off screen.

Hi Folks,

Martin has done a really good job with the firmware in CFX, but so far, only he and I have actually used it and it has had limited testing. So far though, it appears to work very well, with no known problems. However, before it goes on general release, it could really do with having a wider test. To that end, I am going to make three CFX boards available for purchase by "early adopters" / testers - assuming that anyone is interested that is . . . . . . .

OK, here's the deal . . . . .

The CFX board will include a single connector to plug into the MTX cartridge port.
(Production versions will have the option to install the card internally)
It will be supplied with a Compact Flash card reader and 128MB CF card

The purchase price will be £30.00 + shipping (Paypal "gift", or you pay the fees)
(The "production" price is still to be finalised, but will be greater than £30)

Should you be dissatisfied with CFX, you may return it within 30 days (at your cost) for a full refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping)

You agree that you will not sell or otherwise dispose of CFX for 1 year after purchase without first offering it back to me at the price you paid (excluding shipping), providing that everything is in working order, minus a reasonable figure for wear & tear.

You agree to provide feedback, including bug reports, to Martin and myself for a period of up to 90 days or until CFX is formally released for sale, whichever is earlier.

As development of the firmware is likely to continue for a while yet, it would be preferable that you had the ability to reprogram the ROM as and when new firmware is made available. However, this is not a prerequisite to ordering, should you not be able to reprogram the ROM yourself, you may return the ROM to me for upgrade (at your cost) and I will return an upgraded or replacement to you at no additional cost.

A photo of the first CFX PCB that I assembled is attached to this post.

If you are interested in taking up this offer, please drop me a PM.

First Come - First Served

regards
Dave

Apparently, the CFX has to be kept in the freezer before use

New item added to work-flow today

Well, after all, it is such a cool device

I take it that your message means that there are now 3 CFX's in the world (not including the prototype )?

- or at least there will be once you build it :-)

Tomorrow, as I'm a bit tired now...

I was also working on another project. I needed some resistors (of a particular value), but found my accessible stock (in mini component drawers) was low, so went and found some more in a multi-value pack (values from 10 ohms through to 1M). Of course, the value that I wanted was in the last bag

As this took longer than expected, I have not yet done everything I need to do before bed...

At least they were IN the last bag, it's when they're not, and Maplin closed 10 mins before you get that AAAAGH moment!

Have fun testing, looking forward to some feedback.
