FREE Electronic Components !!! - no, this isn't spam !

Post by Dave »

Hi folks,

If you read the threads further down in this folder, you will see that Lez Anderson generously offered some free components to anyone interested in looking at building an updated Z80 family computer.

There was not much interest at the time, but as there has been a little more hardware discussion recently, Lez has asked me to repeat his kind offer.

If any members of the Forum would like a Z80 kit (Z84C0020 + SRAM + ROM + KIO + V9958 + EPM7128 + GALs + SN76489 etc) then just ask and I'll send you one for free ! - courtesy of Lez.

Whilst Lez hasn't said so, I imagine that there are limited quantities of the components available, so, if you are interested, get in quick - they will be on a "first come, first served" basis.

Regards
Dave

Yes !

(not counting me of course)

consider yourself top of the list!

That PSU replacement is going to be pretty fancy if it has its own CPU :-)

The kits will consist of :

Z84C0020PEC CPU (20Mhz MAX rating)
128K SRAM 70ns or so
64K EEPROM 45ns or so
EPM7128SLC84 (for glue logic)
GALs (16V8, 20V8, 22V10) Miscellaneous Programmable logic
V9958 VDP + D41464 DRAMs
SN76489 PSG Sound IC
Z84C9010 KIO (has CTC,PIO,SIO in one IC) 10Mhz
8255 PIO for connecting a CF IDE type device (CF Card reader)
MAX232 RS232 Driver
DS12887 RTC Real Time Clock (Clock , Calendar)

Various switches,buttons,connectors etc

The Aim behind this is to get more people in the Memotech MTX group interested in hardware and microcomputer design.

** if anyone can think of any other ICs that could be included just say !

I won't be ordering these before the 10th of Feb 2014... so you have about 2 weeks to pop a request in with Dave Stevenson. I'll send the kits to him and he can then 'Dish them out'

Hi Lez,

I'm certainly interested. Dave has posted a couple of my Memotech related hardware projects, and I have built myself a couple of simple Z80 based boards in the past.

However I am not sure that I have the free time at the moment to follow along more than theoretically. I already have too many projects, and now I seem to have talked myself into developing the Launcher GUI for MEMU as well.

I will certainly watch what you produce, but I leave you decide whether I am a deserving cause for your very generous offer of free components.

Bill.

Hmm.. I could use a set, if there's one going spare...!

Dave, you have my address, right?

(Gosh, it's like Xmas.. Have to think of a decent design for it..)

Hi Jon,

I'm sure that Lez will add you to the list.

I will be sending out the kits once I get them from Lez,

I don't think a PSU with its own CPU would help (at least not a Z80 CPU).

But I do have an idea forming...

First however, I really do need to build a cable so that I can do some load testing!
