Crash Z80 design course ...what'll you'll need..

Post by lezanderson »

If anyone does want to follow the crash micro-design course ....what you'll need :

a logbook for keeping notes and drawing diagrams / noting pinouts etc..
A Z80 kit ( free ) though this is not essential until you've got a PCB to pop the components into !
PCB / Schematic layout software on your PC.. Eagle, FreePCB etc.. I'll be drawing board layout in FreePCB as it has no limits on board size.
MTX schematics, connector pinouts and general technical information.
Datasheets, mainly pinouts for things like CPU,RAM,ROM etc

The course is not designed to make you into a computer scientist it's just a fun and informal way to learn about microcomputer design and the MTX512 computer.

I don't really expect anyone to make a working 20MHZ super MTX512...but we'll have fun trying and what else is there to do over the summer holidays !!

I'll start it this Friday evening so people can start this Weekend.
