Hi folks,

Lez is back in give-away mode . . . .

He is now offering some "W65SC816s.. DIP40 these are 16bit 6502s.. I believe they where used in the SNES Console. Output lines are multiplexed to allow it to fix into a 40 pin package."

Is anyone interested in this chip?

regards
Dave

I am interested. I don't know whether I should ask for one or not, though.

I've already got enough parts from Lez's generosity for months if not years worth of "fun"

Err, what Martin A said

Yes, I am interested. If only other things (work/real life/family life/etc) would allow more time...

Anyway, never mind SNES (of which I know very little), I'm thinking about if it is possible to shoehorn a W65SC816 into a Acorn Beeb somehow. Or maybe see if it can be used as a second processor for a Z80 system... Will have to go and read up on it ;)

As ever, a big thank you to Lez :D

Mark

Lez said . . . . .

"Hi.

I believe the 65SC816 is the latest evolution of the 6502 processor turning it into a full and powerful 16 bit CPU ! As well as standard 6502 mode they have an enhanced 16 bit mode and are still made by Western Design Centre ! For those interested in 6502 stuff it might be worth reading up on ! Believe it or not 6502 and all peripheral chips are still made today by Western Design Centre.. they even make custom 6502 design for customers !"

Er, what Martin A and 1024mak said, too.

Lez certainly help me stock my electronics box with tools and components.
And keeping in this spirit, this helped me offer the earliest REMEMOrizers slightly cheaper, and I've also passed on some things to other retro enthusiasts.

I've also got some things to give-away at Memofest 2014, including (wait for it) some 30x2 right-angled edge connectors - handy for MAGROM etc..
