Hi guys,
is anyone else having any issues with the Ads being served by Memorum?
I have noticed a few issues since the upgrade and wondered if anyone else is seeing issues?
Such as :-
Ads in the footer taking up 20% of the screen area on an iPad with Safari
"Tech Support" Adware (pop up with loud alert sounds)
These issues are only present for me when surfing Memorum and I suspect the Ads in the footer to be the cause

Problems with Ads on Memorum?
Re: Problems with Ads on Memorum?
Definitely an issue for me. Using Firefox on Linux, it pops up a nearly full page ad. When I click the close button on that, the add takes over the entire original page, and bumps the forum onto a new tab. Very annoying.
I can recognise the need to pay for hosting the site, and I can tolerate a reasonable number of in-line ads, but this is a bit much.

Re: Problems with Ads on Memorum?
Hi Bill,
thanks a lot for the feedback - I'm glad that it's not only me having issues.
The ads taking over the page are bad enough, but the frequency of those spurious/spammed "Windows Firewall" error message are driving me nuts!
I'm not sure whether Claus can make more than a trivial amount from the Ads on the pages, or whether they are a compulsory part of his hosting contract, but I agree that the current situation is a retrograde step from what we had before and will only discourage particiupation on the forum.
Claus, can you let us know your thoughts please?
regards
Dave
PS, I am pretty sure that there is nothing wrong with my PC and the fake Firewall message is being generated by the Ad server used by Memorum

Re: Problems with Ads on Memorum?
I have a similar problem on an iPad mini. Every time I click on a link, I get bumped to a new tab where the forum page loads. When I return to the original tab I find it is now a another site that I am not the least bit interested inBill B wrote: ↑18 Nov 2018 17:38 Definitely an issue for me. The large banner advert at the bottom is also annoying

I don’t mind some advertising, but not when it affects the usability of the site

Hmm I don't see any banner adds top or bottom. I checked Edge, Opera on Windows, and Silk on the Kindle no adds and this time no pop ups.The large banner advert at the bottom is also annoying
I HAVE had them though using Opera on the other PC.
Could it be the broweser settings ?

Something has changed in the last ten minutes. I am now getting more reasonable adverts at the bottom and am no longer experiencing the forum opening in a new tab with another site loading in the original tab.
