just had another offer from Lez . . . . .
"Got some RTCs .. DS1302 & DS1307 in DIP8 .. these have serial or I2C lines.. so are better suited for micro-controller. ?.. are they any use to you or MTX users ?? These are not just for MTX related projects.. as many people mess around with micro-controllers and might find these useful ?"

I've been reading up on these' maybe a good project for someone that wants to play with the "port 7" connector on the MTX motherboard?
Is way too far down the project priority list for me to volunteer to test the suitability though...

They should also work well with a Raspberry Pi, which has I2C but no RTC.
But like Martin, I also already have too many projects on the go to want to impose further on Lez's generosity.
