I guess I could make the case slightly narrower, specifically for the CFX. Now the design is more generic.

Maybe we should give some more thought to how it would attach to the MTX too.
On Version 2 of the SDX, Memotech fitted a plate on the bottom of the case and the drive to bolt them together, but, not wanting to drill the MTX case, that's not appropriate for this case. Incidentally, Memotech replaced the dome head screws in the end panel and SDX case with countersunk screws to make the plates fit flushly. For this case, we could remove both the MTX end plate and the case end plate.
Here, we were contemplating a long 3mm rod between the outside of the case and the MTX screw holes, probably without the side plates in between the two devices. That would mean that a screwed rod would need to pass all the way through the plastic channel in the case, that would generate a lot of friction and might mean that we could not get the rod all the way though. It might be better to slightly increase the internal diameter of the channel to allow the rod to pass through easier. (This method would need a nut on the outside of the case, rather than a dome head screw, so wouldn't look quite as neat as the SDX cases.)
The biggest problem is that there are no mounting holes in the PCB to fix it to the case. With CFX-II it should be possible to fix the CFX PCB to the case quite easily, but the current version of CFX would just be "floating" inside the case. That should not be a problem though.

Dave, is there space for the PCB to be held on the PCB edges by slotted plastic stands?
Said stands could then be fixed to the base of the case.

Hi Mark,
yes, there should be - I was thinking of that too.
(The fit might be different depending on whether the board had the internal connector fitted too)
We'll just have to see what our 3D modelling expert offers up next

Could we utilize the rectangular rails for connecting the two cases together?
I could change the rail on the expansion case so that it slides into the rail of the actual case. Or, i could make connecting pieces that could be slid into the screw rails.
