A Chap on the Powertran Cortex Forum has made a Homebrew Mini-cortex micro complete with PCB. Specs are

Funkward-tech can do the ICs for $25 all in, the Sparkfun Slim CF Card Board are not available from Sparkfun any more, but I've been told you can still get them ??

U9 Elector FT232R board is a RS232 to USB board about $20 to connect to to PC

The F18A is video output to VGA type monitor about $75 though this is not essential.
