MFX and soldered in RAM expansions

Post by Dave »

Soldered in Memotech memory boards don’t need to be a barrier to MFX!

Memotech frequently made MTX512s out of MTX500 computer boards by adding a RAM expansion card inside the case. Some were push fit edge connectors, in other cases, Memotech soldered the RAM board in place. This makes it difficult to install alternative expansion boards such as MFX.

However, it doesn’t need to be a show stopper! The latest MFX customer unsoldered the memory expansion without too much difficulty and was able to install MFX.

Another satisfied customer :D

What da yah mean? An angle grinder or jigsaw can quickly separate those RAM boards from the main board ;)

And you appear not to have posted the "after" photo

“There are four lights!”
Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb :!:
Autumn is here. Bye bye summer 2024...

Not as many MTXs as Dave!

Ha-ha, that may have been the tools that Jason used :D

Unfortunately, I don’t have an after photo - Jason . . .?
