Asteroid Rescue

Post by Potholepete »

For those not on the facebook group an update:

Tony Cruise has been working away at getting the game coded for the MSX and it has just been submitted into the MSXDEV 2025/26 game competition, it is not the full game and there will be things that need tweaking but if anyone is interested there is a playable version via the browser.

The next step is to get it across to the MTX, this involves resolving a fair bit of fettling and working out how to add envosound to it as well but as and when there is more to report I will post back.

Cheers, Jim

How about putting the time and energy into porting some of the *nicer* MSX games , like Hyper Rally, Alpharoid, Zanac ..etc , most Konami games played great .. as long as they're not being re-sold , it will not affect the copyrights - I don't think ;)

Thanks for the suggestion re MSX game ports. There are some great games for that system and they could be ported to the MTX but the work involved for only a few people to actually play makes it not something that I am interested in doing. Asteroid Rescue was my MTX game I started back in 84/5 but never finished. Tony Cruise has taken my new game assets and coded it for the MSX as that's his main interest but in time we will get it across to the MTX. We are currently working on a reboot of Pothole Pete that is running in Memu, once that's done we will port it to the MSX and hopefully Coleco as well, this way many more people are likely to get to play it.

Sadly there is so little interest from within the MTX community as far as actually playing new stuff goes that the effort needed for just supporting the MTX only is just not worth it for most people who are still able to code on the older systems. By teaming up with Tony I am hoping to bring new original games to the MTX as well as other formats.
