F18A video Chip TMS9918 replacement.

Hi.
Has anyone considered (or even bought) the F18A VDP to drop into the 40 pin TMS9929 socket.. ??
It has some very impressive features, though 512K VRAM is rather large for an 8 bit system. Though lots of machines , TI99/4A, Tatung Einstein etc used VRAM as silicon disc !!
The chip boast some very impressive features and an even more impressive price of $99, about £75 !! Plus there's no software that takes advantage of it !
But I suppose it does give VGA (Monitor) output, meaning you can get rid of that old television.
