Hi all, just acquired an MTX512 and looking forward to getting to grips with it. Originally a Sinclair guy back in the day, although I had a Memotech RAM pack for my ZX81, if that counts. These days I'm a Computer Science lecturer but as a sideline I curate a small-ish (50 or so machines) collection and run exhibitions and outreach events with the retro kit out of my uni. So it will be nice to add the MTX to my retro hordes - this was always one of my unicorns and very glad to have one now.
While I'm here, a quick question. My MTX is a bit scuffed on the case, particularly towards the bottom, where lots of the black coating has been scratched and scuffed. Ordinarily, I wouldn't even dream of painting a retro machine but as this is metal I am wondering whether that might be a possible approach.
How have others handled scuffs and scratches? I was talking to Dave (of MFX and CFX fame) and he suggested furniture polish rather than paint. Does anyone have any suggestions, or should I just put up with scuffs and marks as part of the retro charm?
