Re: Hello from Finland
Even brand new RIFA smoke generators can go pop, so the ones in the FDX will go soon as it's not the number of hours which they run for which is it issue but their age.
You can replace them with modern polythene X2 capacitors and they'll be fine forever.

Re: MEMU (not only) on Pico
Wayland supports X11, so no need to change. If the emulator interfaces with the standard UNIX/Linux serial ports then I guess you don't need GPIO, unless people want to use the emulator as a systems development platform for external device control instead of using Python. :-) (Or with Atari Joystic...

Re: Newfangled Discord "server" set up.
Yeah, like Facebook the posts are ephemeral, but at least there are different themed "channels" like in IRC, so it's more general chit-chat than reference material, which is what the forum is ideal for.
I've been looking to see if I can add a link to the forum but I've not found one yet.

eBay: It's going nuts again.
I see the prices on eBay are going nuts again.
Who would ever pay £250 for this wreck? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/145564031228
And £850 for an admittedly OK looking machine? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/296212960863
And I see the Pascal ROMPAK is still on sale for ~£500.
*sigh*

Re: New Memotech user
I did warn you that as it had the old keyboard that it was probably a 32K machine that had a RAM board. It's 4000-04 which also means it's a relatively early system. I wasn't aware that the keyboard font was an indication it was an earlier machine? I have seen them of 512s2's. Until I had my two sy...
