Re: New Member saying hello

Hi Schmit.

I jope you got your cassettes transferred. One quick question: what keyboard layouts do your machines have?

Thanks,
Steve

Re: Keyboard layout

Thanks guys, I have an interest as I have a Danish keyboard layout MTX 500 and in CP/M the keyboard follows the standard UK MTX layout, therefore I was searching for a command that might remap the layout, but I haven't used CP/M since the 80s (when I had to provide occasional IT support to a couple ...

Keyboard layout

Is it possible to detect the keyboard layout via code? There might be a section in The Source, from the index Chapter 10 might cover it.

Re: New kid in town

Welcome. As a newbie myself, I can tell you that this is a very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable community. Which Ebay did you win the auction on, UK? I periodically keep an eye out on ebay UK and there's been a rash of machines for sale recently. Check Dave's Primrosebank site and fill in the ha...

Re: VDP output monochrome and strobing

Thanks Dave, I'll try to remember that!

I've ordered a Pi GPIO ribbon cable - seems to have the same number of pins at the same dot pitch as an IDE cable, just three times the price. Now, that's real progress...

Re: VDP output monochrome and strobing

Thanks Martin, that seems to be it.

The only IDE cable I could put my hands on is an old original Xbox cable, which is about a foot long :o , so I'll need a shorter one, but it works.

Re: VDP output monochrome and strobing

Hi all. After three birthdays and some family days out (it's Easter hols here), I have managed to swap out the DC-DC step up converter and it's fixed the issue. I also have a new problem! The MTX won't boot with the keyboard attached. Disconnect it and we are good, with a Ready prompt and flashing c...

Yep. This PSU has been a labour of love (and considerable cost  )

Re: VDP output monochrome and strobing

Thanks, actually that will teach me for buying cheap. When I was sourcing parts, I was looking for an LM2577 part and came across a XL6009 which seemed to be similarly specified. However, having just done some more in-depth googling, seems the XL6009 is a poorly designed load of junk, that is potent...

Re: VDP output monochrome and strobing

From F3 to GND, I get 11.3V DC.

From yellow wire on step up transformer, 11.0V DC.

Step up transformer is dodgy?
