Re: V9958 on an MTX

Nothing new from the weekend, I got side-tracked putting together some 6309 based hardware.

I WILL get the 80 column text mode tested, I promise!

Graphics mode 7 tested

It's a bitmapped 256 x 192 mode in 256 colours

I'm still running composite video output.

The very basic BASIC used to set up the display can be seen on the other screen.

Re: V9958 on an MTX

Now does this mean we get a c o l o u r version of textinvaders? Mark Hm I guess that depends on the market, what's your estimate of the number MTX's there are out there running with a V9958 expansion? :D I was cheating a little to get the display set up, the 9958 was set to respond to ports 1 and ...

V9958 on an MTX

after tweaking.jpg Testing on the EB512.jpg Minor success today, first output from the V9958 supplied by Lez, being driven by the much abused MTX500 I upgraded to 64k. That's half the amount that's on the video board, and there are 2 sockets obscured by the daughterboard that could bump the video r...

Re: FDX 80 Column Fault - Video Question . . .

You probably also need to run MTX.COM and run the test code from the VDP side, otherwise the OS is likely to mess with the results when you start PRINTing.

Re: FDX 80 Column Fault - Video Question . . .

That IS interesting, as the read back on my re-memorizor based setup is the 63 that's put into the attribute port on line 10.

Which suggests you might be wanting to look at the write to attribute ram side, rather than the video output ?

Re: FDX 80 Column Fault - Video Question . . .

Something like 10 OUT 51,63 20 OUT 50,65 30 OUT 49,224 40 FOR X=0 TO 255 50 OUT 48,X 60 NEXT 70 OUT 49,0 80 FOR X=0 TO 255 90 OUT (48),X 100 PRINT INP(51) 110 NEXT Tested on re-memorizor, as unlike some folk I don't have 157 FDX's  The first 6 lines push 256 white on white A's on to the 80 co...

Re: FDX 80 Column Fault - Video Question . . .

Have you tried writing a byte to the video attribute memory and then reading it back, to confirm the right value gets into video memory I the first place ?

Re: All good things come to an end,or do they? - Perhaps not

I've been reading up on these' maybe a good project for someone that wants to play with the "port 7" connector on the MTX motherboard?

Is way too far down the project priority list for me to volunteer to test the suitability though...

Re: All good things come to an end . . . . or do they?

I'm going to keep quiet his time.

Thanks to Lez's previous giveaways, I have enough "projects" to last for years.

I just need the time to finish them.

Hmm, it's a shame you cant get an "Early Retirement Chip" :D
