Hello,

I'm Peter from Surrey in the UK. My first computer was a ZX81 that my late father and I built from a kit. A few years later I moved onto the ZX-Spectrum and apart from occasional playing with other 8-bit platforms I stayed with the Spectrum until I got my Amiga 1200.

I've always had an interest in the Memotech range (we had a ZX81 RAM Pack from them). With emulation making things much easier nowadays (and saving the bank balance), I have been playing with various retro machines over the Covid-19 period. I can program a little amount of Assembler, but I'm sure nothing to the standard that you guys can. I was impressed with the BASIC on the Memotech, and liked the fact that the 256x192 was familiar to me.

I should also declare that I run spectrumcomputing.co.uk which is a fan-site for the ZX.

Hi Peter

Welcome to our slice of Memotech :D

Be sure to visit Andy’s site where you will find MEMU :D
ETA: ahh, I see you have already found MEMU

Also there is loads of stuff including manuals and technical documentation on Dave’s site :D

And of course, don’t forget the host site of this forum, Claus‘s MTX World

Thanks Mark. I will bookmark those links. The emulator seems very good, and runs on the Raspberry Pi!

Hi Peter,

As Mark says, “welcome”!

If you are interested in running MEMU on a Raspberry Pi, check out Bill Brendling’s “bare metal” implementation here
