MFX FPGA Firmware Release 2 - January 2024

MFX FPGA FIRMWARE RELEASE 2 - AVAILABLE JANUARY 2024

For CFX-II, Bill Brendling, taking advantage of the Parallax Propeller’s flexibility, created additional video modes that were available under CP/M and MTX BASIC. Bill has now implemented similar features for MFX in an update to the FPGA firmware.

For most users, the most obvious benefit is likely to be the new 80 x 48 character display available under SDX BASIC which greatly improves readability of BASIC programs and disk directories. It would be great though, if users were able to use the additional graphics features to program some new games for MFX/MTX. I look forward to being inundated with submissions for inclusion on the MFX SD Card

The new features are described in Version 1.2 of the MFX Operator’s Guide, available on this page

Please see this post for information on how existing users might get access to this upgrade

My priority at the moment will be to ship the existing orders for MFX with this upgraded FPGA (and ROM) firmware. I should be able to progress any requests for upgrades for existing users within the next few weeks though.
