Video Processor for homebrew project ?

Post by lezanderson »

1 Mbit Versatile SPI / 8-Bit Parallel Bus SRAM with Video Display Controller

I spotted an interesting chip that may be useful for those building those little projects both MTX and Non-MTX related.

The Chip has 128Kbit SRAM and A PAL/NTSC Video chip on it.

There are also quite some good legacy Video processors worth looking at if you're building a homebrew computer system

V6366 these are normally in PLCC68 (internally just an enhanced 6845)
R6545 DIP40 slightly improved 6845
V99x8 VDP..
TMS9918/29
D72020/upd7220 and D72120 are advanced Graphical video controllers
6847... as used in Acorn Atom and Dragon 32...somewhat data even back in the early eighties[/size]

Free Video Chips

Free to Good Home, just contact me .

I've got some surplus video chips.... ideal for homebrew video board projects..

EF9367 :The Thomson EF936x is a type of Graphic Display Processor (GDP). The chip could draw at 1 million pixels per second, which was relatively advanced for the year of its release (1982). Package DIP40

EF9345
: Text 40/80 Column with semi graphics mode. Ideal for simple text display. Package DIP40

D72020 :The High-Performance Graphics Display Controller 7220 (commonly μPD7220 or NEC 7220) is a video display processor capable of drawing lines, circles, arcs, and character graphics to a bit-mapped display. It was developed by NEC in order to support the Kanji character set efficiently, which explains why the APC computer line had such superior graphics compared to competing models.  Package DIP40

TS68483: An Advanced Video Processor from 1989: Package PLCC

V6366: A later version of the 6845, can address 64K DRAM and can produce VGA modes 320x200, 640 x 200 etc. : Package PLCC
