IS there any interest in.... MemoChat

Post by Martin A »

Is there any interest in having a "MemoChat", a Skype meet up early in the year so supplement Memofest that traditionally occurs October time.

Last Year's Memofest was the first one where there were more remote attendees than were actually present at Bill's. And it still all worked out pretty well.

So, would there be any interest in a skype only meet up in say a couple of months just to chat about all things Memotech. Maybe demonstrate some of the kit that's out there. Maybe something new if there's anyone has something they want to show off and not wait till the end of the year.

Answers on a postcard to....

I do Zoom... but you only get 40 minutes free. However, only the host needs to pay the fee if you want a longer meeting, the guests pay nothing. During COVID the Acorn community regularly started video meetings via Zoom. They still have smaller regular meetings via video link.

For work, we use Microsoft Teams. But as I don't know the costs, as it's a company account.

Or, you just dial into the call again with the same meeting ID

For MemoFest I used Skype as that allows 24h with multiple participants with no charge.

You don't need any installation, you can just use the browser, but that does (I think) require using Edge, at least for the host.

Aye, but unless people are quick, you are then waiting for a few minutes while everyone rejoins.
