Unfortunate that there are two major events on the same weekend, splitting possible attendance.

So if there is going to be a Memofest this year, it probably needs to be on a different date.

I would love to come, Bill, but life is getting in way of spare time and I have sustained some long-term damage to my disposable income. I hope there is a year where Memofest is still running and I am available and financially sound enough to visit. It might be a few years, yet.

Alternatively, I'll have to work towards putting on a "Memofest Nord", over here in Copenhagen. Cake, tea, electricity and space might be all I can offer.

Where do you live Bill?

I am less than 50 miles NE of London. I will send a more precise location by PM.

So far there has not been enough interest shown to be worth hosting the event this year. It really needs at least four or five people.

There's probably 4 or 5 of the usual suspects that would attend via skype like last time.

I meant four or five physically present. Since there is really no new hardware or software to show off this year (as far as I know) it will be more of a social occasion. I am not convinced that works well if the majority are only virtual.

"events" on Skype and the like DO have a different feel.

If you can't get enough "bums on seats" for a physical Memofest, do you want to have virtial meet up anyway, just to keep in contact ?

I'll be at the Cambridge Retro Computing festival this weekend for the Saturday.

I'd be interested in an online meetup this year if a physical one is not happening.

I have a paid zoom account we could use (not subject to the 45 min meeting length of the free accounts)

I've created a doodle poll to see what times (if any) would work for a virtual meetup: https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/b8OQNp3a

Alternatively, if people don't mind other retro enthusiasts in the same meeting there is https://www.meetup.com/London-Retro-Computing/ Despite the name it's not limited to London and mostly virtual these days. On months when we don't have a speaker (which is most months at the moment) we just have an online chat. I'd be happy to dedicate a month's meeting to Memotech if we have a couple of people willing to give demos

I only got one response on the doodle poll so it seems that the interest is not there (or I was just too late to the party).

I'm still potentially interested in an online Memotech event next year - maybe it could introduce new people to the platform or this forum.
